Thanks to an $11,530 JumpStart grant and a $1,000 ParticipACTION grant, the Clearview Youth Centre will offer area youth and equity-denied populations a variety of sports and recreation opportunities through the Connecting Clearview Youth to Sport program this summer season beginning in May.
The Connecting Clearview Youth to Sport program will build on the programming created with JumpStart funding from previous years by creating a diverse and inclusive experience to allow youth to participate in sports and recreation with no barriers.
Mayor Doug Measures is grateful for the opportunities the funding provides “Thanks to generous grants, our Youth Centre can keep providing accessible programs that eliminate obstacles for young people. By drawing on past experiences, we create opportunities for youth in Clearview Township to develop, flourish, and succeed.”
The ParticipACTION program will offer adaptive dance classes in May and June, run by a certified dance instructor, and the JumpStart program will expose participants to a variety of different sports, both locally and by travelling to recreation locations, all low cost or free of charge to Clearview youth.
Since 2005, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities has been committed to ensuring that youth have equal access to sport and recreation. For more information on Canadian Tire Jumpstart, please visit jumpstart.canadiantire.ca.
As part of their Community Challenge, ParticipACTION provides grants to help community organizations promote and deliver sport and physical activity opportunities to equity-denied populations.
