On Friday, Clearview’s Parks and Recreation Department held an Open House at the Stayner Community Centre where its Active Communities Project (ACP) was in the spotlight. Thanks to a $199,900 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) in 2024, the Township was able to hire an Active Community Programmer and implement a sustainable ACP program and expand on youth centre programs as well.
“Congratulations to Mayor Doug Measures, Council, and Township staff for securing this provincial funding to create opportunities that bring people together in Clearview to live active, healthy lives,” said Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe–Grey. “This grant is helping to strengthen community connections, enhance local recreation, and build a foundation for long-term well-being.”
The event showcased ACP activities, such as short mat bowling, in recognition of the new opportunities that the two-year OTF grant has provided for residents of all ages and abilities to be active in Clearview. The Resilient Communities Fund grant program was designed in 2020 to help small communities and non-profit groups move past some of the challenges that were created as a result of the pandemic. Funds from the grant were used to help with staffing, as mentioned above, as well as the purchase of fitness and recreation equipment, communications, a computer and software licensing, and training certification too.
Awarded in 2024, the $199,900 grant allowed the municipality to hire an Active Community Programmer and implement the Clearview ACP, creating sustainable programming and expanding Youth Centre programs.
Mayor Doug Measures and Clearview Council are pleased that residents are getting active. “We are incredibly grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support. Thanks to their funding, our community has seen active participation, with residents of all ages embracing new fitness programs and engaging in activities that promote health and well-being,” said Mayor Doug Measures.” The OTF’s contribution has helped foster an active and vibrant Clearview, and we are thankful for the positive impact it has had on our community,” added Measures.
Clearview is committed to providing new opportunities for residents to be active. As our Township grows and expands, recreational programs to support youth and adults will help to make Clearview an attractive place for families to live and create a healthy and positive community for everyone.
